We have now arrived in Hong Kong and it is just 6 a.m local time. The flight was 8 hours and 40 minutes. They served dinner, not great I must say, as soon as we left Melbourne then I slept most of the way to Hong Kong. Peter did his normal dozing and wandering the cabin so he tells me. We had continental breakfast just before we arrived which was nice and refreshing. Unfortunately the majority of the shops etc are closed at the airport which is very surprising. I would have thought they would be open 24 hours. We are in the Qantas lounge, have had showers and have a wait of about two hours before we reboard and go on to London.
It is 27 degrees they tell us in Hong Kong at the moment but as we can't go outside we can't confirm that. The festivals of lanterns starts today so it is a shame we aren't staying over for a day or so. Never mind, next stop London.

We are on our way
Thank goodness we have now finished work and we can feel that we are going on holiday. It is now 9.30 p.m. on Friday night and Sandra has just dropped Peter and I off at the airport. It is grand finals week-end in Melbourne and obviously everyone is arriving and no one is leaving. The airport feels nearly empty, which is great for us. No waiting. We leave Melbourne at 11 p.m. and next stop is Hong Kong. Our bags are booked directly through to Paris, so here's hoping that they follow us and are there when we get there.

And the packing begins!

Sharryn and Garey are in preparation mode - would you believe that Sharryn has made a list so that she doesn't forget the important things in life. Have a look at this photo and see what she thinks she should be taking with her.

The decision was made early on that we would pack light for this holiday - do you agree that Garey and Sharryn are keeping to their side of the bargain. At least they are beginning to place things into a suitcase, ready for the "remove half of this stuff" task.
